Pearl McCreary

FRANKLIN—Pearl McCreary, 92, a resident of the Village at Woods Edge in Franklin, Va., passed away March 8, 2011.
He was born in Harlan County, Kty., the son of the late Rhoda Hall McCreary and Frederick Gordon McCreary.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Christine Roark McCreary and his son, William McCreary.
Pearl was a U.S. Army veteran.
He later went on to retire as a railroad conductor for ArmCo Steel.
Pearl is survived by his son, Rev. Byron McCreary and wife, Louise of Suffolk, Va.; grandchildren, Barbara Johnson, Rebecca Williams, Jerry McCreary and Jeff McCreary; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Max McCreary of Greenville, Tenn., Lawrence McCreary of Astor, Fla., and Marvin McCreary of Knoxville, Tenn.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 11, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, Va., with Rev. Dolan Talbert officiating.
Friends may join the family for a time of visitation prior to the service from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Rev. Byron McCreary.
A graveside service will be held Monday, March 14, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery in Harlan, Kty.
