WINDSOR—A Windsor man has been arrested for allegedly receiving 7 pounds of pot valued at $9,000 in the mail.
Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office charged William David Treffer, 24, with sale and distribution of marijuana.
“We received information from the Postal Service that a package with about seven pounds of marijuana inside was being shipped to an address on Shiloh Drive,” said Capt. Paul Phelps.
The Postal Service does routine checks on packages, which was how the marijuana was apparently discovered, Phelps said.
The Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the U. S. Postal Service, served a search warrant at Treffer’s home in the 13000 block of Shiloh Drive.
The package was delivered to the door, and Treffer signed for it. A search warrant was then served, and the package was recovered along with drug paraphernalia and a weapon.
It’s believed the marijuana came from California, Phelps said.
Treffer was taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
