Virginia Harrell

FRANKLIN—Virginia Atlea Pretlow Lyttle Harrell of Campbell Avenue, Franklin, Va., departed this life on March 1, 2011, while a patient in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Va.
The Isle of Wight County native graduated from Isle of Wight County High School.
Mrs. Harrell had an extensive educational career. Upon high school graduation, she acquired a B.S. Degree from Virginia State University, Petersburg, Va., M.S. Degree from Hampton University, Hampton, Va., and continued her education at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
Mrs. Harrell was retired from the Isle of Wight Public School System after 34 years of service. Prior to retirement, she became the Assistant Principal of Smithfield High School. Mrs. Harrell was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served on the XYZ Ministry, Missionary Ministry and the Senior Choir.
Mrs. Harrell is survived by three grandchildren, Joseph Lyttle, Daniell Lyttle and Christopher Lyttle, her step-children, cousins, extended family and many caring friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2011, at First Baptist Church, 318 Hall Street, Franklin, Va., with the pastor, Reverend Dwight S. Riddick, delivering the eulogy. The interment will be in Southview Cemetery.
A visitation will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
