Corapeake – Reuben Peter Vick, 84, a former resident of Southampton County, Va., died March 1, 2011. Born in Rich Square, he was a son of the late Joseph Doc and Stella Spence Vick. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a retired carpenter and operated a produce stand in Whaleyville for the past 20 years. Reuben was an avid musician and could play the guitar, mandolin, banjo and fiddle. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 19 years, Della Justice Vick; three daughters, Debbie V. Story (Victor) of Franklin, Va., Stella V. Bradshaw (Phillip) of Carrsville, Va., Michelle V. Montgomery (Robert) of Suffolk, Va.; a son, Mark L. Vick (Susan) of Suffolk, Va.; two step-daughters, Barbara J. Cabral (Edwin) of Corapeake, Madonna J. Fox of Hertford; two step-sons, Leroy V. Jordan (Terry) of Corapeake, Rene Outland (Tammie) of Indianapolis, IN; 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Jones of Suffolk, Va. and Mary Catherine Andrews of Florida. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rita C. Vick, two brothers and six sisters.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, Va. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association. www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
