Armed robbery suspect turns himself in

FRANKLIN—A Franklin man suspected of holding up a man at knifepoint turned himself into Franklin Police on Thursday afternoon after learning he was sought.
Ghana Mekeo Bynum, also known as Ghana Holloway, 38, of the 300 block of Harrison Street, has been charged with the armed robbery.
Victim Christopher Thomas, 36, of the 200 block of Bracey Street, was walking along the 400 block of Thomas Street at 3:30 a.m. Thursday when he was allegedly approached by a Bynum, who was wearing a long brown coat and carrying a knife.
Bynum is accused of stealing Thomas’ wallet, which contained cash and credit cards, and letting him go unharmed, police said. The suspect allegedly fled in a white Chevrolet Corsica.
Bynum was taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail; additional charges may be forthcoming, police said.
