Virginia Lowe Deal

FRANKLIN-Virginia Lowe Deal, 80, died February 20th at Southampton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the daughter of Daisy Walshe Lowe and the widow of Eugene (Jeep) Deal of Emporia. She was predeceased by a son, Edward Randolph (Randy) Phelps and a brother, Oliver W. Lowe.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela P. Harrell and husband Mike of Yale, four grandchildren, Abbey H. Webb (Jared) of Yale, Thomas W. Harrell (Melissa) of Hanover, Chad Phelps (Shannon) and Craig Phelps (Mary Lou) of Jarratt and ten great-grandchildren, Rylee, Reagan, and Brody Webb, McKenzie and Joshua Lennick, Karsen Harrell, and Madison, Cameron, Dallas and Savannah Phelps. Also left to cherish her memory are her stepsons, Channing and Donnie Deal, extended family and her many “sisters” from the Jackson Field Episcopal Home in Jarratt where she spent her formative years while her mother was a matron there.
She was lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Purdy. For the past few years she was a resident of The Village at Woods Edge in Franklin where she made many friends among the residents and was lovingly cared for by the staff.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday February 22, 2011 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia.
The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Grace Anglican Church, Purdy, with the Rev. Colin Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
