Thank you for the “It’s Happening Here” section of The Tidewater News.
I attended the genealogy class that you mentioned in last week’s edition. It was held at the Southampton County Clerk’s Office on Saturday and hosted by Circuit Court Clerk Rick Francis and genealogists Bruce Saunders, Ann Marie Piland and Joe Drake.
A special thank-you goes to these presenters for such a knowledgeable, informative and inspiring presentation. Instruction was giving on searching and obtaining genealogical information here and throughout the state.
The Southampton County Clerk’s Office houses wonderful records and is open with free access to the public. I do hope that other residents in this area will make use of these available records and learn more about their ancestors and local history.
