To the Editor:

So let me get this straight: The electric company and the government are constantly leaning on me to discard my old incandescent light bulbs and purchase yet another newfangled light bulb, this time a $90 LED bulb so I can avoid consuming too much electricity, while at the same time, the government and the electric company want to use my tax money to subsidize the widespread purchases of electric-powered cars, which I will have to charge at home each day with even more electricity that is largely produced by burning coal.

Does anybody else besides me find this defying common sense?
