George T. Nichols

NEWPORT NEWS—George Thomas Nichols of Sunnywood Road, Newport News, Va., passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 8, 2011.
He was born on April 9, 1930, to William Perry and Annie Whitehead Nichols in Franklin, Va. He was the youngest of nine children.
George was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, James, Edward, Charles, Junious and Emmit Nichols; and three sisters, Ella Mary Nichols Lewis, Sue Nichols Brown and Ruth Nichols Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Anne Nichols; daughter, Deidra L. Nichols; two sisters-in-law, Dolly Nichols and Jessie Nichols; a devoted cousin, Bertha B. Turner of Suffolk, Va.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A homegoing service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011, at East End Church of God, 410 East Street, Franklin, Va., where Bishop S.D. Willis is pastor; Reverend H. Bernard Branch, pastor of St. John Second Baptist Church, Ahoskie, N.C., will deliver the message of comfort.
The committal and benediction will be in Southview Cemetery. The family will assemble at the home of Jessie Nichols, 716 Gardner St., Franklin, for the funeral procession. On the day of service, his remains will rest in church for viewing by 9:30 a.m.
