FRANKLIN—Childhood liver cancer survivor Eric Newman will speak during Franklin-Southampton Relay for Life’s kickoff meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at Fred’s restaurant in downtown Franklin.
Newman founded Rock Solid Foundation, which benefits children facing cancer.
The 2011 Relay for Life will be held Saturday, June 4, at the Bronco Federal Credit Union field off Stewart Drive.
Families, schools, companies, hospitals, churches and community organizations are asked to create teams of 8 to 15 people to raise money that goes toward cancer research, public and medical education, and local patient services.
Last year’s event raised $132,259 this year, surpassing the goal by more than $4,000.
