Marion Bradshaw

Marion Bradshaw, 89, formerly of Sedley, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2011 at Riverside Convalescent Center with her family by her side. Marion was born in Mansfield, England. While serving in the British Royal Air Force in England during World War II, Marion met her husband, Lonnie, who was serving with the United States Army. After their marriage in England and the end of the war, she relocated to Sedley with her husband. After raising three children on the family farm, she became a hostess at the Virginia Diner in Wakefield for twelve years, where she was affectionately known as “Mrs. B.”. She charmed many with her British accent and Southern hospitality. Marion loved her family, her church, entertaining, traveling and her beloved England. Marion was a member of Millfield Baptist Church, the WMU, the Home Demonstration Club and the Do Nothing Club.

Her husband Lonnie, her son, Paul, two sisters and four brothers precede Marion in death. Son, Denis Bradshaw and wife Lisa of Virginia Beach, daughter Susan Owen and husband Darren of Ivor survive her. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew J. Bradshaw of Virginia Beach, Kimberly B. Harrow and husband, David of Jupiter, FL, Mary B. Simmons and husband, Patrick of Harrisonburg; and great grandsons, Grayson Luke Simmons and Daxten Ryan Harrow; and loved nieces and nephews in the United States and in England.

The family will receive friends at the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Wakefield on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Millfield Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Renfrow and Pastor Jay Butcher will conduct the celebration of life at Millfield Baptist Church on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Burial will be held at the Rosewood Cemetery in Sedley.
