Quite an athlete

Congratulations to Franklin High School senior Justin Grant, who on Wednesday signed a letter of intent to play football for the University of Richmond.
What an opportunity for the hometown kid, who worked hard during his youth and teen years to earn a five-year full ride to play for the Spiders. You can’t help but feel good for him.
Justin is quite a player. He uses his natural athletic abilities to his advantage and gives 100 percent on the field. During the state semifinal game in November, No. 9 was where he had to be on the field, making receptions and tackles. It was obvious Justin wanted to help his team get a crack at the state title, which didn’t happen after the Broncos’ 35-8 home loss to Riverheads.
Grant finished the season with several accolades. He was named First Team All-District and All-Region as a wide receiver, punt returner, tight end and defensive back.
A big thanks needs to go to Bronco Coach Darren Parker, who helped Justin reach his goal of obtaining a college scholarship.
Justin’s parents, Gloria Baker and Mike Grant, also deserve commendation. They must’ve done something right to raise such a successful athlete.
So, good luck, Justin. We hope to hear good things from you in Richmond.
