PETERSBURG—Franklin’s Andre Foreman scored 16 second-half points to lead the Broncos to a 55-40 Tri-Rivers District win over Appomattox Regional Governor’s School on Friday night.

“It was a big win, and we still have a shot to make postseason,” said Bronco Coach Danny Dillon. “We have been district tournament champions the last two years, and even though we are inexperienced this year, I think we can still defend our title.”

The game started slow with several early fouls, and the Broncos took a 10-6 lead. With one minute remaining in the first half, the Broncos went up 25-13.

However, with foul trouble, Dillon was forced to substitute players, and ARGS went on a 7-0 run to finish the half down 25-20.

It was all Franklin in the second half with Foreman leading the way. At one point, he hit three straight shots from the same spot.

Franklin was up 13 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Governor’s School would not go down without a fight. AGRS knocked down shots and got within 4 points of the Broncos, but from then on ARGS was unable to score.

The Broncos went on an 11-0 run for the win.

“We have had a tendency to start games out slow,” Dillon said. “We were determined to come out strong tonight no matter how much they tried to slow the ball down, and we did just that.”

“I’m proud of the way my guys are learning and coming together as a team,” he added.
