COURTLAND—Construction on a Hardee’s in Courtland is expected to begin by the end of March.

The fast-food restaurant, which is slated to open by the end of June, will create 50 to 60 jobs.

“We’re excited to be a part of the Courtland area, and I know the folks will enjoy all of our homemade-from-scratch biscuits and chicken tenders,” said Jerry Allsbrook with Boddie-Noell Enterprises in Rocky Mount, N.C.

The Hardee’s, which will be built in front of Food Lion on Highway 58, will hire people for management and team positions. Allsbrook did not have details on the rate of pay for those positions.

“It will be dictated by the market,” he said.

A sign advertising the telephone number for jobs is posted at the construction site. Hardee’s also expects to do some additional “help-wanted” advertising and work with the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry.

Boddie-Noell owns all of the Hardee’s in Virginia, including the restaurants on Route 58 in Emporia and Suffolk

“It’s a great market already for us,” Allsbrook said. “We know the community and Courtland will welcome us. It’s got great traffic flow.”

Boddie-Noell Enterprises is the largest franchiser of Hardee’s restaurants in the world, owning 340, including 229 in Virginia.
