Mary Jim Davis

BOYKINS–Mary James (Jim) Ramsey Davis, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away January 22, 2011 at home at the Village at Woods Edge in Franklin surrounded by her family. She was born in Washington County April 14, 1927, the daughter of the late James Felix Ramsey and Mary Rowland Duff Ramsey. Educated in Washington County, she was a graduate of Radford College and taught Home Economics in Russell County, Bath County, and Southampton County.
Mary Jim was a lifetime member of Green Spring Presbyterian Church in Abingdon and was very active in the Boykins Baptist Church, where she was a longtime teacher of the Ruth Bible Class, director of the Womens Missionary Union, and leader of the Girl’s Auxiliary. Mrs. Davis was also a member of the Southampton Historical Society, Hicksford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Boykins Senior Woman’s Club, Happy Homemakers of Boykins, and the Red Hatters.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of over 60 years, George Marriott Davis, Jr.; two daughters, Marilyn Davis Krupilis and husband, John, and Carolyn Duff Davis, all of Atlanta; a son, George M. “Jim” Davis, III, of Franklin; five grandchildren, C. Ramsey Krupilis Wagner and husband, Blake, Elizabeth Lee Krupilis, John Davis Krupilis, Meredith V. Davis, and G. Marriott Davis, IV.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday, January 25, at Boykins Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 am Thursday, January 27, at Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Abingdon with Rev. Bunn and the Rev. John Martin officiating.
Although she lived in Boykins most of her adult life, the mountains of Washington County were never far from her heart.
