IVOR—An Ivor man is accused of hitting a woman in the head with the butt of a gun and then pointing the gun at her after an argument last week, according to Southampton County Sheriff’s Office.

Harold Thomas Gay, 50, of the 38000 block of General Mahone Boulevard, was charged with felonious assault and brandishing a firearm.

The sheriff’s office received a call in the early hours of Jan. 11 from the emergency room at Obici Hospital in Suffolk, where the 22-year-old victim was receiving treatment.

“Mr. Gay allegedly struck the victim several times in the face and head, and when she attempted to leave, he allegedly pointed a gun at her,” according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
