SMITHFIELD—Joan “JoEllen” Williams Gienger, 67, of Smithfield died Jan. 4, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Benn’s United Methodist Church. Burial will be at St. Luke’s Memorial Park.

Mrs. Gienger was the general manager at Smithfield Gardens, where she worked for 25 years.

She was a Virginia Certified Horticulturist and a member of the Tidewater Daylily Society.

Survivors include her husband, John S. Gienger; two daughters; one son, Brent Martin of Ivor; and one sister and two brothers.

Parr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
