An Adams Grove woman is behind bars after allegedly attacking a man with a machete early Wednesday morning.

Tierra Hopson, 40, was arrested after Southampton County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for a fight in progress in the 10000 block of Southampton Parkway at about 7:15. Deputies found a man with a significant injury to the head, and it’s alleged that Hopson hit the man with a machete.

Police wouldn’t say what prompted the fight.

The victim, a man in his 40s who police did not identify, was transported to Southampton Memorial Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Hopson was charged with malicious wounding and sent to Sussex County Jail with no bond.
