WAKEFIELD—Linda Holt Griffin, 95, of Wakefield passed away on Monday, December 27, 2010.

She loved going to Nags Head where she enjoyed surf fishing.

Mrs. Griffin was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church.

She was a cafeteria worker at Wakefield High School, an employee at the Tasty Treat and later retired from Wakefield Pharmacy.

Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her parents, John Andrew Holt Sr. and Clara Adcock Holt; husband, Hubert Jesse “Curley” Griffin; son, David W. “Red” Griffin; grandson, Michael Griffin; brothers Jimmy Holt, Rickon Holt, M.M. Holt and Conrad Holt; and sisters Mildred Scott, Eleanor Goodrich and Mary Lou Miller.

Mrs. Griffin is survived by her daughters Jessie G. Turner and husband, G.W., and Barbara G. Wade and husband, Eddie, all of Franklin; daughter-in-law, Becky Griffin; grandchildren George Turner III and wife, Judy, Susan Joyner and husband, Walter, Kim Marks and husband, Neal, and Jennifer Warthan and husband, Keith; great-grandchildren Calli Joyner, Nathan Turner, Annabelle Turner, Jordan Marks, Mariah Marks, Shelby Pike, Maggie Pike, Avery Ruth Warthan and M.K. Warthan; and a brother, Earl Holt.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010, at the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Wakefield with the Rev. Jim Hyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Wakefield Cemetery.

All in attendance are invited to a reception at Wakefield United Methodist Church after the service for a time of fellowship and remembrance.
