ISLE OF WIGHT—Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate 16 burglaries that have occurred from the end of October through Dec. 15.

Burglars are kicking in the doors of homes and stealing flat screen TVs, guns and jewelry, the Sheriff’s Office reported. The suspects are apparently knocking on the door of a home and asking strange questions when someone answers. When they get an answer, they leave.

A couple was home during one attempted break-in, but the would-be burglars ran off when they saw the couple.

Deputies have no suspects, but have information on vehicles spotted where the burglaries occurred. One was a dark-colored, four-door car that may have a spoiler or a wing on the back and dark tinted windows.

Deputies described the second vehicle as a reddish burgundy sport utility vehicle.
