Betty B. Whitehead

FRANKLIN—Betty B. Whitehead of Mariner Street, Franklin, Virginia, passed December 19, 2010, in her home.
On May 23, 1921, she was born in Southampton County, Virginia, and was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Whitehead was the loving wife of James Robert Whitehead until his demise in 1992. Mrs. Whitehead is survived by one daughter, Margie W. Vaughan, Franklin, Virginia; five sisters, Louise Joyner, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Thelma Stith, Frances Flowers of Queens, New York, Delois Barnes, Marie Scott of Franklin, Virginia; two brothers, Wesley Barnes of Franklin, Virginia, Richard Barnes of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Gwendolyn Wilson, Chesapeake, Virginia, Belinda Bowers of Portsmouth, Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Deshawna Lee, Ralpheal Lee, Aliyah Wilson, Briana Bowers; one great-great-grandchild, Daemond Daughtrey; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at noon Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 35441 South Quay Road, Franklin, Virginia, with the pastor, Bishop Robert Earl Duck, III delivering the eulogy. The interment will be in the church cemetery. On the day of service, her remains will be placed in church for viewing by 10:30 a.m.
