We appreciate your article about Big Woods Wildlife Management Area (“4,400 acres of public land open for deer hunting,” Dec. 1).

As a point of clarification, all successful deer hunters are required by state law to check their harvested deer either by telephone at 1-866-468-4263, on the Internet at HuntFishVa.com, or at a local check station to receive a confirmation number or check card. There is no reporting system to tabulate the harvest at Big Woods. Deer harvested at Big Woods are included in the Sussex County harvest figures.

We hope this helps and encourage everyone to enjoy the wildlife opportunities at Big Woods.
