ISLE OF WIGHT—Isle of Wight officials continue to interview applicants for its budget and finance director’s position.

“We were doing interviews as recently as yesterday,” county spokesman Don Robertson said Wednesday.

Former director Ron Reck resigned in September. Reck, who was hired in August 2009, didn’t give a reason for resigning and couldn’t be reached after leaving.

Before coming to Isle of Wight, Reck spent 18 mon-ths serving as the vice president of business operations at Coker College in Hartsville, S.C. He also spent 30 years with the U.S. Coast Guard before retiring and had spent seven years in higher education serving in senior financial leadership roles.

Robertson said he believes the county will interview about eight applicants. The budget and finance director position has a budgeted salary of $92,466.
