COURTLAND—A Franklin man will spend nine years behind bars for stabbing another man three years ago.

Julius Stephens was sentenced in Southampton County Circuit Court Tuesday for the August 2007 knife attack at a home on Bruce Street in Franklin. The victim received multiple stab wounds to the head, neck and back and was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.

Stephens was arrested days after the attack in Suffolk and charged with aggravated malicious wounding and stabbing in the commission of a felony.
