FRANKLIN—Jane Riddick-Fries loves to dance and needed to come up with something quick for a fundraiser.

So she suggested a holiday dance at Cypress Cove Country Club in Franklin. Proceeds from the Saturday, Dec. 4, event will benefit the James L. Camp Jr. Family YMCA’s We Build People campaign.

“We’re supporting a great cause and the country club as well,” said Riddick-Fries, vice president for the YMCA’s Board of Directors.

We Build People is a program that allows the YMCA to offer discounted memberships to individuals and families, said Branch Director Kathy Roberts. The scholarships discount the monthly $61 rate for an individual and $86 for a family by about 25 percent.

“It’s based on family income,” Roberts said.

The YMCA, which has 2,830 members, also held a golf tournament to benefit We Build People and contributes to the program through its annual general campaign.

The dance will be held from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. with disc jockey Wayne Cooke.

“He’s a great DJ and will be providing the music,” Riddick-Fries said. “The food will be great, there will good fellowship.”

The $25 tickets include hors d’oeuvres. There will be a cash bar.

The dance is limited to 250 attendees; tickets can be purchased at the Y, which will provide free babysitting from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m.
