ZUNI—George Alvin Joyner Sr., 84, died Nov. 17, 2010, at Consulate Nursing Facility, Windsor.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Gilfield Baptist Church, Ivor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Joyner was educated in Isle of Wight County school system, served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 33 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Joyner; three daughters, Patricia Joyner of Newport News, Cynthia Tynes of Hampton and Joy Uzzle of Houston; two sons, George Joyner Jr. of Windsor and Solomon Joyner of Richmond.
