Not surprised by ‘gay-rights agenda’ in schools

To the Editor:
As a pastor, minister of the gospel and a Christian who follows the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ, I believe I must respond to the article on the front page of The Tidewater News (“Sisters united: Siblings start Gay Straight Alliance,” Nov. 3).
It is no surprise that the gay rights agenda has reached the Franklin City School system. Nor is it a surprise that adults have once again used children to promote their agenda.
There are several points I believe I must make regarding this issue. First, homosexuality is a sin specifically forbidden by the Word of God. The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God because of the sin of the men of the city.
In Leviticus 18:22 God tells us “You shall not lie with a man as with a woman. It is an “abomination.” The consequences of that action is described in Revelation 21:8. “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake, which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
In Romans chapter 1, verses 18 through chapter 2 verse 6, the Apostle Paul describes once again the consequences of the sin of homosexuality.
Second, public opinion, especially Biblically uneducated opinion, does not sway the heart of God.
Third, Jesus died on the cross so that we could choose. God is pro-choice and requires that we choose His Son to receive the free gift of eternal life. Yes everyone has the right to choose their fate, but I must point out that each one must weigh all the facts before making their decision.
Decisions to openly sin without considering the consequences leads to eternal death. My prayers go out to these children — may they consider the choices they have made.
