Murder suspect arrested

CHESAPEAKE—U.S. Marshals in Chesapeake on Tuesday arrested a Franklin man in connection with the murder of a Southampton County man and a Franklin drive-by shooting.

Shahon Cumbo was arrested on a first-degree murder warrant in connection with the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Darrin Lee at the Southampton Meadows Mobile Home Park on Oct. 7. Cumbo also had outstanding warrants for malicious wounding, unlawful wounding in a felony, discharging a firearm from a vehicle resulting in injury, discharging a firearm resulting in injury, using of a firearm in the commission of a felony and brandishing a firearm in Franklin.

Cumbo is suspected of shooting 19-year-old Franti Urquhart of Franklin in the ear at the BP gas station on Armory Drive in the early morning hours of Sept. 4. Urquhart was treated and released from the hospital for his injuries.

Cumbo was taken to the Portsmouth City Jail without bond, according a news release from the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office. Three Suffolk men, Darrin L. Robinson, 20; Bruce L. Boone, 18; and Dayquan Eley, 18, also face first-degree murder charges in connection with Lee’s death.
