IVOR—Two people were killed in a crash near Ivor on Wednesday.

Annette Hicks Turner, 49, of the 30000 block of Boothe Road, Ivor, and Leslie Gay Jr., 53, of Wakefield were killed in the 3:45 p.m. crash at Boothe and Sadler roads, according to Virginia State Police.

Police said a male teenager was driving northbound on Sadler Road in a 2008 Toyota Tacoma when he ran a stop sign. His pickup traveled into the path of a 1994 Geo Prism driven by Turner. The pickup hit the compact car’s driver’s side door.

Gay, who was a passenger in the Geo Prism, died at the scene. Turner was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The teen wasn’t hurt in the crash. State Police aren’t releasing his identity because of his age.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and the teen said he was driving the speed limit, which is 55 mph, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya, a State Police spokeswoman.

Charges are pending based on the Southampton County Commonwealth Attorney’s review of the case, police said.
