Woman injured in Monday wreck

SEBRELL—A 23-year-old woman was seriously injured after she was thrown from the car she was driving in a Monday crash on Route 35 in Sebrell.

Patricia Fernandez was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she was in serious condition Tuesday afternoon.

According to Virginia State Police, Fernandez was speeding while driving a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina just south of River Road at 2:50 p.m. Her car left the road, and Fernandez overcorrected. Her car left the opposite side of the road and hit a sign and some trees.

Fernandez is from Florida but was staying in Franklin at the time of the crash, police said.

Trooper S. Johnson said charges are pending.
