Ethel Mason

CAPRON—Ethel Mason of Capron died September 30, 2010.

The Southampton County native was the daughter of the late David and Fletcher Mae Hunt Britt. She was the widow of Frank Mason.

Mrs. Mason was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church, where she served for many years on the Deaconess Board. She was also a member of the Antioch No. 72 Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Capron.

Mrs. Mason is survived by two daughters, Garcia P. Barnes of Woodbridge, Va., and Crystal M. Slater (Rufus) of Greensboro, N.C.; one son, Luther C. Williams (Mary) of Reston, Va.; one sister, Grace Wright of Capron, Va.; sisters-in-law, Edna Worrell, Bessie Bynum; brothers-in-law, Curley Mason (Betty), Nurney Mason (Cordelia); eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

A homegoing celebration was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mount Tabor Baptist Church, 28668 N. Main St., Newsoms, Va., with the pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Cole delivering the message of comfort. The committal and benediction was in Bryant Church Cemetery.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
