Police investigating shooting of 21-year-old Sedley man

FRANKLIN—Police are investigating the shooting of a 21-year-old Sedley man late Friday.

Franklin police responded to Southampton Memorial Hospital at about 11:45 p.m. where Kevin Lamont Peterkin was being treated for a gunshot wound to his right thigh, according to police spokesman Lt. Tim Whitt.

According to police, Peterkin alleges that he was shot in the 1400 block of South Street and picked up by an unknown female driving a white Mitsubishi sport utility vehicle, who dropped him off at the hospital.

While investigating the incident, officers found an abandoned blue Chevrolet sport utility vehicle on Rosewood Avenue near Washington Street. Inside the vehicle, police found a large amount of blood in the front passenger side and a .45-caliber revolver.
