Isle of Wight and Southampton County schools and Paul D. Camp Community College will be closed Thursday as heavy rain continues to pound the area.

A flash flood warning was issued until 11 a.m. for Franklin, Isle of Wight County and eastern Southampton County.

Franklin, Southampton County and Isle of Wight County also remain under a tornado watch until 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Franklin received 2.08 inches of rain Wednesday, according to the Weather Channel’s website, and a total of nearly 5 inches since Sunday. Another 3 inches to 5 inches is possible today, the National Weather Service said.
