Windsor defeats NSA for first time in 10 years

WINDSOR—For the first time in 10 years, Windsor High School’s volleyball team defeated Nansemond-Suffolk Academy on Tuesday.

“This was a big one,” said Dukes Coach Jeff Burchette. “I just think senior leadership (led to the win), and we are a lot more mentally tough than we have been in the past. They’re very talented.”

The Dukes defeated the Saints 25-13, 30-28 and 25-22.

Leading Windsor were senior MacKenzie Allen with 9 kills and 9 digs, junior Lauren Arrington with 8 digs, junior Brittany Stephens with 9 digs, senior Tiffany Rapp with 4 blocks, 8 kills and 7 digs, senior Lyndee Spencer with 25 assists and senior Taylor Gay with 10 kills.

On Monday, Windsor defeated Isle of Wight Academy 25-8, 25-11, 25-17 in another non-league game.

Leading for Windsor was Allen with 5 kills, 2 blocks and 6 assists; Rapp with 8 kills, 4 blocks and 11 aces; Gay with 4 kills, 2 blocks and 2 aces; and Spencer with 17 assists

The Dukes are 8-3.
