Seafood Fest organizer apologizes for problems

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to thank everyone who supported the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Association’s annual Seafood Fest on Wednesday, Sept. 15, prior to the Isle of Wight County Fair.

Due to unforeseen circumstances that were beyond our control, people had to wait in line for food and beverages. I would like to apologize for the problems encountered due to these issues.

The Seafood Fest has always been a time for our association to raise funds to support our organizations and to provide a family event where everyone can relax and enjoy themselves.

I am fully aware that at our event this year not all patrons had the enjoyment as in the past. Together we are working to resolve issues so that next year these problems will not reoccur.

The Fire and Rescue Association thanks the fair committee for its continued support and help as we sponsor the Seafood Fest.

Even though the fest is a separate event from the fair, the fair committee has always worked with us to have a successful event. Therefore the problems associated with our Seafood Fest were not a function of the fair and committee.

I apologize to the fair committee for any problems our fest may have created for them.

Again many thanks go to everyone who supported the Seafood Fest this year, and I sincerely apologize for any inconveniences anyone experienced during this event.

I look forward to your continued support in the future.
