Seven SHS golfers vying for district spots

COURTLAND—Seven Southampton High School golfers today, Sept. 22, will vie for three remaining spots for the Southside District Tournament on Sept. 28.

The Indians will take five golfers to the tournament, which will include players from Nottoway, Bluestone, Greensville, Powhatan and Prince Edwards high schools.

Southampton sophomores Billy Britton and Jordan Francis have already qualified, said Coach Bob Woulf.

“I’m not 100 percent sure who will fill out the team so we are having a challenge tomorrow,” Woulf said Tuesday. “The top three from that match will qualify. We have no seniors and all the rest are ninth- and 10th-graders,” Woulf said.

The Indians finished in fourth in the district with a 4-4 record.
