Samuel C. Oliver, III, 71, passed away September 20, 2010 at his home in Franklin.

Born in Smithfield, NC, he was the son of the late Thelma and Samuel Columbus Oliver, Jr. Sam was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. He retired from ViaSystems Technologies as a Senior Engineer.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marti D. Oliver; daughter, Anne Catherine O. Puchyr of Greensboro, NC; sons, Samuel C. Oliver, IV and wife Cheryl of St. Louis, MO, William D. Oliver and wife Jeannie of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Lauren, Kathleen, Anna, Benjamin, Emily Ayn, and William Jr.; brothers, William G. Oliver and wife Virginia of St. Petersburg, FL, Josiah J. Oliver and wife Betty of Richmond, VA, special niece, Susan Oliver Stacks Wilkins and husband Rick; and numerous extended family members.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at Franklin Congregational Christian Church, 412 N. High Street, Franklin, VA, 23851 by the Rev. Lafayette T. Wilkins. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
