Absentee voting under way

FRANKLIN—In-person absentee voting for the Nov. 2 general election started Friday at registrar’s offices across Virginia.

Voters will choose a 4th Congressional District representative. Incumbent Republican J. Randy Forbes is facing Democratic challenger Wynne LeGrow.

Voters will also decide three proposed amendments to the taxation and finance section of the state constitution.

Those allowed to vote absentee include military members on active duty, people who will be out of town for personal, educational or business obligations and people who are unable to vote in person because of a disability.

In-person absentee voting will continue until Saturday, Oct. 30. Voters may also apply for a mailed absentee ballot.
