To the Editor:

Thanks to all who made the 17th annual Heritage Day a huge success!

Around 2,200 people came to the Heritage Village/Agriculture and Forestry Museum to enjoy the many activities and great food.

From the flag raising by Boykins Girl Scout Troop 5073 to the flag lowering by Boy Scout Troop 125, it was a perfect day.

Thanks to the Ag Museum workers for their countless hours of preparation and set-up time, and to the Ag Museum committee, friends and family who worked that day.

Also thanks to those who demonstrated heritage crafts, Civil War historical groups, face painters, craft vendors, those who brought antique cars, tractors and engines, miniature horses and donkeys, the petting zoo and Mattie the Cow. Thanks  to our talented musicians – Shiloh Grass Blue Grass Band and Potecasi Creek  String Band.

Boy Scout Troop 125 did a great job with parking, and Watt Jones shuttled many visitors back and forth in a golf cart.

The new country church was a big hit.

Please join us on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m. for the church dedication. And I hope you will join us next September for the 18th Heritage Day.
