Franklin – James Edward “Goat” Daughtrey, 64, died September 16, 2010 at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk. He was born in Franklin, a son of the late Elizabeth Darden and William Thomas Daughtrey, Jr. and was predeceased by a brother, Charles L. Daughtrey. He was retired from International Paper after 32 years of service and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He was an honorary member of the Franklin Volunteer Fire and Rescue and a member of the Carrsville Community Hunt Club.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty Turner Daughtrey; three daughters, Jean Annette D. Ferguson (Woody) of Courtland, Loretta D. Brame (Mike) of Prince George and Grace Ann Whitley of Franklin; three grandchildren, Matthew Ferguson, Wesley Allen Campbell, and Ryan Wayne Campbell; two sisters, Peggy D. Cutchin of Suffolk, Joetta D. Rice of Saugus, MA; and one brother, William D. Daughtrey (Shirley) of Suffolk.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating.
