ISLE OF WIGHT—Four days of food, music, fun and games — better known as the Isle of Wight County Fair — kicks off Thursday, Sept. 16, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 19.

Thursday is Carload Night, when up to 12 people in a car, van or truck can pay a flat $30 entry fee. Everyone will receive an all-you-can-ride wristband. Passengers must be legally seated in the vehicle, and no passengers are allowed in truck beds.

Senior citizens will be treated on Friday for Senior Day. Seniors can buy admission for $1 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and can stay all day. Schools and day cares will also receive the $1 entry rate from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Regular admission prices for Friday through Sunday is $5 for ages 4 and up and free for ages 3 and under.

Midway wristbands can be purchased in advance for any day other than Thursday for $15 at all Farmer’s Bank locations, the Smithfield & Isle of Wight Visitor Center, Isle of Wight Academy and at the Isle of Wight Parks & Recreation Office.

Wristbands are good on Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or 5 to 11 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. Midway rides will take from two to six tickets each. Regular ride tickets will be available at the fair, priced at $1 for a single ticket, $20 for 20 tickets and $30 for 50 tickets.

Advance tickets for Seafood Fest are $25. The Isle of Wight County Fair Seafood Fest kicks off today, Sept. 15, at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served from 6 to 8. Tickets include entry to the midway rides from 5 to 9 p.m., all-you-can-eat catering by Nixon’s Seafood, adult beverages and live music by Island Boy.

Seafood Fest tickets are available at any Isle of Wight Volunteer Fire and Rescue Station, the Parks & Recreation Office at Nike Park in Carrollton, and anywhere you see the “Seafood Fest Tickets Here” sign.

On Thursday, the fair introduces small town teens with huge talent. Don’t miss up-and-coming country artist Celeste Kellogg and the CoastLand Band at 8 p.m.

On Friday, the fair hosts Republic Nashville recording label singing sensations, The Band Perry. The young group, a family trio made up of Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry, has grabbed the attention of country radio in a way usually reserved for more established acts. The show starts at 9 p.m. with local favorites Honkytonk Highway at 7.

Saturday, country music’s new male vocalist Jason Michael Carroll is the headliner. Carroll was signed to Arista Nashville and his first album, Waitin’ in the Country, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. His first two singles, “Alyssa Lies” and “Livin’ Our Love Song,” shot into the Top 5.

The show starts at 9 p.m. with local entertainers Silver Street beginning at 5 and Southern Heartland at 7.

Sunday’s big draw on the main stage are ACM, CMA and Grammy award winners, The Kentucky Headhunters. The Edmonton-based hillbilly rockers got off to a huge start with 1989’s “Pickin’ On Nashville,” which went multi-platinum and won a bucketful of awards.

The show starts at 4:30 p.m. with local favorites Past Due at 2:30.
