FRANKLIN—Nettie Bowden Artis, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Sentara Norfolk Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at White Oak Spring Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.

Survivors include six children, Bessie Smith, Lawyer Artis Jr., Joseph Artis, Alice LaBoren, Miriam Pope and Stanley Artis; and one brother, Alexander Bowden.
