BRANCHVLLE—Samuel Elton “Dick” Whitley, 85, died Sept. 5, 2010, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Nashville, N.C.
Whitley was born in Nash County, N.C.
He was a retired sawyer.
Survivors include his daughter Brenda W. Mashtare; step-daughter Tammy Flythe; grandchildren Jo Ann Worthy, Hillary Flythe and Russell Flythe; sister Alma Moss; and brothers Wilmer and Buck Whitley.
Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
