CARRSVILLE—Myrtle Virginia Winslow Gardner, 88, widow of Lawrence Earl Gardner Sr., died Sept. 6, 2010, at the East Pavilion.
She was born in North Carolina, a daughter of the late Mattie Stallings and Nathan Frank Winslow Sr. and was predeceased by a sister, Sybil W. Winslow; brothers Thurman B. Winslow, Alma H. “Joe” Winslow, Nathan F. “Pete” Winslow Jr. and Raymond S. Winslow; and a step-son, Lawrence Earl Gardner Jr.
Mrs. Gardner was a retired paper inspector, working for Union Camp Corp. for 26 years.
She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Shelby Jean “Amber” Gardner of Virginia Beach; a son, Earl Randy Gardner of Carrsville; grandchildren James Gardner Matthews of Suffolk and Audra Leigh Gardner of Carrsville; great-granddaughter Taylor Ashley Matthews of Suffolk; sister Daphne W. Rhodes Hopkins of Battleboro, N.C.; step-grandsons Bob and Larry Gardner, both of Carrsville; and step-granddaughters Katie Schucker of Chesapeake and Joanne Carpenter of Elizabeth City, N.C.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Richard Peerey and Mr. Clifford S. Winslow officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service at Mrs. Gardner’s residence on Community House Drive in Carrsville.
