FRANKLIN—Franklin police are investigating two Thursday night armed robberies near the We Be jammin’ concert at Barrett’s Landing.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was walking behind Birdsong Peanut Co. when three assailants approached him. Two showed handguns and stole the teen’s wallet, according to police spokesman Lt. Tim Whitt.

About five minutes later, the same three allegedly robbed two more teenage boys of their cellular phones and a small amount of cash while they were on the boardwalk near the boat landing.

“That was the first time any trouble has really ever happened out there with me,” one of the victims said in an interview Friday. He said the suspects threatened to kill the victims if they called the police.

None of the victims was injured.

The suspects are all believed to be between 18 and 25. One is described as a white male with blond hair wearing khaki or white basketball shorts and a black shirt with the word “Element” on the front.

The second suspect is described as a tall, heavyset black male with a raspy voice, wearing a black shirt and jeans and armed with a handgun.

The third suspect is described as a skinny, tall black male, wearing a black shirt and black trousers. He was also armed with a handgun.

The suspects were last seen running west on South Street.
