Roy Carter PaceYORKTOWN—Roy Carter Pace, a resident of Yorktown, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at age 72. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1956 and from the Newport News Apprentice School in 1961. He served in the Army for three years, earning Good Conduct and Marksman Medals and achieved the rank of specialist E-4 while stationed in Zweibrucken, Germany. He returned to civilian life and worked in the Newport News Shipyard and other subcontracting companies affiliated with ship building as a draftsman. He enjoyed owning rental properties and was a generous man who helped care for many people. Roy was an Eagle Scout and is survived by his two sons, Dr. Brandon Pace of Roanoke, Virginia, and Jonathan Pace of Newport News, who are also Eagle Scouts; a brother, Henderson Leigh Pace Jr.; a sister, Janet Gladstone; and three grandchildren, Noah, Harper, and Barrett Pace. He was an active member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church and a memorial service will be held there by Dr. Michael T. Condrey on Saturday, Sept. 25th. Visitation from 4 to 6 with service to follow. Burial will be private at a later date.
