Robert J. Herrala

COBLESKILL, N.Y.—The Rev. Robert J. Herrala, 65, of Mountain Top, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010, in Cobleskill, N.Y.
Born in Dunmore, he was a son of Belma Hunsinger Herrala of Mountain Top and the late H. Theodore Herrala.
He served in the U.S. Army for three years and was stationed in Germany.
The Rev. Herrala received his bachelor’s degree from Oneonta State University in New York and then his master’s of divinity from Colgate University in Rochester, N.Y.
He served as pastor in Edmeston, N.Y., Ashley, West Pittston, and was currently the pastor at Christ United Methodist Church in Mountain Top.
The Rev. Herrala was also active in the Boy Scouts of America and the Market Place Ministries.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, the former Margaret Conklin; children James Wilcox, Hawaii; John Wilcox, Nashville, Tenn.; Clyde Wilcox and wife Lisa, East Worcester, N.Y.; Randal Wilcox, Whitesboro, N.Y.; and Stephen Wilcox and wife Michelle, Sweet Valley, Pa.; brothers H. Theodore (Barbara) and James Walter Herrala (Charlene), of Virginia; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends visited with the family on Tuesday, and  a memorial service was held at the Christ United Methodist Church in Mountain Top. Graveside services will be held Sunday in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester, N.Y.
McCune Funeral Service of Mountain Top is handling the arrangements.
