WINDSOR–Rebecca Saunders “Becky” Hedgepeth, 64, died August 20, 2010 at Consulate Healthcare in Windsor with her family at her side. She was born December 6, 1945 in Southampton County, a daughter of the late Willie Allen and Otelia Gay Saunders, and was predeceased by three sisters, Sarah Edwards, Mary Mumford, Willie Clark, and two brothers, A. J. Saunders and Johnnie Saunders, and a grandson, Preston Lee Hedgepeth.

Becky worked for many years at the formerly known Sentry Food Mart in Windsor until her health declined. She was known as the “Chicken Lady”

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 46 years, Russell; son, Russell Earl of Zuni; daughter, Melissa Humphrey and husband, Bradley, of Windsor; daughter, Shannon Snyder and her husband, David of Sedley; sisters, Charlotte Malcolm-Woodie, Nancy Hall and Brenda Marshall; grandchildren, Amanda Dossey, Tasha Hedgepeth, Tiffany Hedgepeth, Evan Snyder, and Ethan Snyder; and great-granddaughter, Damaris Farr.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Monday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Bill Dawson and the Rev. Clyde Alderman officiating. Interment will follow at Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Sunday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and other times at the home of Earl Hedgepeth, 21437 Thomas Woods Trail, Zuni.
