The marriage of Sarah Ellington Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Murdic Jones of Emporia, to Rustin Ray Jessee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Ray Jessee of Courtland, took place at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Main Street Baptist Church.

The Rev. Robert Dickens, grandfather of the groom, officiated.

The bride is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman E. Harris, James M. Jones and Anita E. Jones.

The groom is the grandson of the Rev. and Mrs. Robert Dickens of Morgantown, W. Va., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Troy Jessee.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

The bride wore a Sottero and Midgley one-piece strapless A-line gown with a corset closure. Featuring an asymmetrically draped bodice and accented with embellished lace, the Palace Satin skirt was bustled at the side, front and center back, revealing lace motifs.

Bracey Jones, sister of the bride, and Emily Clinedinst, friend of the bride, were maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Randa Jessee, sister of the groom; and Grayson Mitchell, Millicent Slate and Cora Sadler, all cousins of the bride.

Junior bridesmaids were Halie Sadler, Preseley Walton and Samantha Slate, also cousins of the bride.

Naomi Sadler and Caroline Slate, both cousins of the bride, served as flower girls.

Randy Jessee served as his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Donal Dickens, uncle of the groom; and Kevin Barnes, Ashby Meador, Twon Smith and Kendal Carwile, all friends of the groom.

Junior groomsman was William Slate, cousin of the bride, and ring bearer was Devin Dickens, cousin of the groom.

Corey White, cousin of the bride, and Matthew Parker, friend of the groom, served as ushers.

Loretta Mitchell, Barbara Slate and Pam Harris, all aunts of the bride, were mistresses of ceremonies for the evening.

Program attendants were Lisa Aker and Erika Morris.

Jane Clinedinst greeted guests while Julie Whittington was guestbook attendant. Soloist was Stephanie Autry.

Dr. Marilyn Wienand, a harpist, and Kimberely Allemang, a flautist, provided music during the ceremony.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception hosted by the bride’s parents was held at Golden Leaf Commons, Emporia.

Mary Woodruff welcomed guests. Reception coordinator was Jeanne Harris.

The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at Hampton Inn in Emporia.

A Pampered Chef party was hosted by Debbie Dianis, Brenda Robinson and Brenda Parson at the home of Robinson.

A miscellaneous shower was held at Main Street Baptist Church. It was hosted by Tina and Stephanie Autry and Jane and Emily Clinedinst.

A barbecue was given for the couple at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grayson Mitchell on Gaston Lake, N.C. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Grayson Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mitchell, and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Walton, who gave the couple a solid teak bistro table and chairs.

A lingerie shower was given for the bride-elect by Bracey Jones, Lisa Aker and Emily Clinedinst.

A cocktail party was given in honor of the couple at the Slate Lake House. It was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Billy Slate, Mr. and Mrs. Clint Slate, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Slate, and Mr. and Mrs. Hermie Sadler. The couple was presented with a gift of their chosen flatware.

A bridesmaids’ brunch was held the morning of the wedding at the Kientz home. It was hosted by Evelyn Kientz and Pam Harris.

The new Mrs. Jessee graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor degree in human nutrition, foods and exercise. She is pursuing her doctorate in physical therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia.

Her husband graduated from Concord University, Athens, W. Va., and received his bachelor degree in sports management. He is employed by Greensville County Schools.

Following a honeymoon to the western Caribbean Islands, the couple will reside in Chester.
