Living Word Church wins tournament

BOYKINS—Second-seeded Living Word Co-ed Softball Team went undefeated to take the title in the final church league softball double-elimination tournament Saturday at Raymond L. Parker Recreational Park.

Living Word sent title contenders White Oak Springs to the loser’s brackets in the semifinals. White Oak Springs narrowly squeezed by a determined Pulaski team to advance to the final game.

White Oak Springs needed to defeat Living Word twice to win the tournament.

The first game was tied at the end of five innings, forcing extra innings. In the bottom of the seventh, Living Word’s Richard Bradshaw scored the winning run, which gave Living Word the title with the 8-7 victory.
